Nueva Ecija sees drops in crimes in 1st 5 months of 2025
CABANATUAN CITY—Police on Thursday (May 22) reported a decrease in the number of incidents involving eight focus crimes in Nueva Ecija during the first five months of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.
Police Colonel Ferdinand Germino, provincial director of the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO), said that from January to May 20, a total of 210 crime incidents were recorded—41 cases fewer than the 251 incidents reported across the province in the same period last year.
“The eight focus crimes—murder, homicide, rape, physical injury, robbery, theft, carnapping, and motornapping—recorded lower incidents during the period,” Germino said.

He attributed the positive trend to NEPPO’s intensified police presence, enhanced visibility operations, and the consistent rollout of crime prevention initiatives at the grassroots level.
The province’s top cop emphasized that “beyond the numbers are the intangibles—crimes that were prevented through proactive policing, strategic interventions, and the vigilance of the community.”
He noted that this achievement was a result of hands-on leadership, adding that by consistently staying on the ground to oversee and prioritize crime prevention strategies, NEPPO has helped foster a more secure environment.
“A crime prevented is a crime that no longer needs to be solved,” he stressed.
“This shift not only protects lives and property but also promotes public confidence, making Nueva Ecija a safer place to live, work, and do business. This success is made possible by our strong leadership, the commitment of NEPPO personnel, and the steadfast support of local government units and community partners,” Germino said.
