MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) suspended at least 107 driving schools in various regions over the past two weeks for alleged fixing of their applicants’ driver’s licenses.
“Don’t even conspire with driving schools, medical clinics,” LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II warned driver’s license applicants in Filipino during a press conference at the Department of Transportation office in San Juan City on Thursday.
“We have already suspended around 107 driving schools in just the last two weeks. We can catch and audit trail those in various regions nationwide. There’s no escaping now,” he added.
When asked to specify which regions, Mendoza said the schools were mostly in the National Capital Region, Central Luzon and Calabarzon.

“The bulk, I would say 90 percent, are those no-show or non-compliance with the proper theoretical drivers’ training that they give to our applicants,” Mendoza detailed.
“We’ve issued show-cause orders to give them the opportunity to explain their side. But in the meantime, they’re suspended,” he added. /das
