MANILA, Philippines — Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Frasco has submitted her courtesy resignation on Thursday, adhering to the order of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Frasco, in her letter, asked Marcos to accept her resignation, saying that it is a reflection of her support for his administration’s policy to “put the people first.”
“It has been an honor and privilege to have served our country,” Frasco told the President.
“Under your leadership, we have worked to transform tourism to be more than just travel, but a unifying force for good, creating jobs, honoring our culture, and helping communities thrive,” she added.
“With Your Excellency’s support, the tourism sector has significantly contributed to the national economy and provided jobs and livelihood for millions of Filipinos,” the DOT chief also said.
Frasco said her resignation came with gratitude, as she mentioned that she gave her all —“with full devotion to our country, and with fervent hope that tourism will continue to be a force for unity and progress.”
Marcos ordered on Thursday the courtesy resignation of all of his Cabinet secretaries, days after the 2025 midterm elections. He asserted that “it is not business.”
“The people have spoken, and they expect results, not politics, not excuses. We hear them, and we will act,” Marcos said.
