MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Wednesday said that she plans to enroll all the city’s residents in the Konsulta package of the Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth) to make healthcare affordable to them.
This is among Belmonte’s plans for the city’s healthcare programs when asked what she will do in her third and last term as mayor.
“Ang plano ko sana, maenroll lahat ng QCitizens sa Konsulta package para kahit papaano ay pwede silang umasa ng free check ups at di matakot sa presyo,” Belmonte said during the Kapihan sa Manila Prince Hotel.

The Konsulta package is a free outpatient benefit package that covers consultation, health screening and assessment, selected laboratory and diagnostic tests, and selected drugs and medicines at their chosen PhilHealth-accredited facilities.

Belmonte also said that the city government is planning to build a new hospital, in addition to the three existing government hospitals in the city. She added that they are expanding the Quezon City General Hospital.
“Magdadagdag pa po tayo ng isa pang gusali doon and we are upgrading our healthcare facilities para lahat po ay maging up to the standard na required ng PhilHealth para maaccredit para mataas ang antas ng healthcare services na binibigay sa primary healthcare units,” Belmonte noted.
