MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will hire more than 1,200 interns for its central and field offices.
This move is meant to provide them with financial aid and government work experience.
Malacañang announced the hiring on Wednesday at a briefing.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said over 1,200 interns will be hired, with 75 slots allocated for each of the 16 field offices and 35 slots for the central office in Batasan Road, Quezon City.

“You have the opportunity to join the Government Internship Program (GIP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development,” Castro noted.
Selected persons will receive salaries in exchange for 30 working days, she added.
The applicants must be college students aged 18 to 25, preferably incoming 3rd and 4th year students in the next school year.
Moreover, their families’ monthly income should not exceed the Philippine Statistics Authority’s latest regional poverty threshold.
