LUCENA CITY — Authorities seized more than P1.1 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) from 10 suspected drug traffickers arrested Tuesday, May 20, in separate buy-bust operations in Rizal and Quezon provinces.
The Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) said anti-illegal drug operatives in Rodriguez, Rizal, arrested four suspects — identified only as “Enan,” “Negro,” “Rose” and “Junior” — at around 4:20 a.m. in Barangay San Rafael after selling P1,000 worth of shabu to an undercover officer.
Police confiscated 116 grams of suspected shabu from the suspects. The drugs were packed in five sachets and a knot-tied plastic bag with a total estimated street value of P788,800.
“Enan” was listed as a high-value individual (HVI) involved in the local drug trade, while the others were tagged as street-level pushers, police said. HVIs are typically considered financiers, traffickers, manufacturers, or members of drug groups.
In Cainta, Rizal, police arrested “Christian,” “John,” and “Jean” in a sting operation at 5:25 p.m. in Barangay San Andres. The three, also identified as street-level pushers, yielded seven sachets containing 15 grams of suspected shabu worth about P102,000.
Later that night, police in Antipolo City arrested “Mike,” another alleged street-level pusher, in Barangay Bagong Nayon at 11:40 p.m. He had allegedly sold P500 worth of shabu to an undercover officer. Police recovered eight sachets of suspected shabu valued at P47,600 and a mobile phone, which will be examined for possible drug-related records.
In Lucena City, Quezon province, police arrested two more suspects, “Jennifer” and “Ronnie,” in Barangay Dalahican at 5:50 p.m. They were also classified as HVIs. Officers confiscated nine sachets containing 27 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P183,600, according to city police chief Lt. Col. Dennis de Guzman.
All suspects are in police custody and face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
