LIGAO CITY — Two drivers died while several passengers were injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a passenger bus along the Maharlika Highway in Polangui town in Albay on Tuesday.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police information officer, told Inquirer in a private message, that a Hino truck, which was traveling from Naga City to Legazpi City, encroached into the opposite lane and collided with a Bobis Liner bus in a section of the highway in Balangibang village at around 4:30 p.m.
Calubaquib identified one of the fatalities as Benedict Buesa, a bus driver, a resident of Barangay Canaway in Malilipot, Albay, while the truck driver is not yet identified.
She said an undetermined number of bus passengers were also injured and taken to the Josefina Belmonre Duran Albay Provincial Hospital in Ligao City by responding personnel from the Polangui Municipal Police Station and Quick Response Team.
