Village councilor gunned down in Rizal

LUCENA CITY — A village councilor was shot and killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Tanza, Rizal, on Sunday morning, May 18, police said.
In a report Monday, Calabarzon police identified the victim as Christopher Aron, 48, an incumbent councilor of Barangay Bagtas.
According to footage from a closed-circuit television camera in the area, Aron was in his Toyota Innova at 10:20 a.m. when the assailants opened fire, hitting him four times in different parts of the body.
The gunmen fled the scene after the shooting.
Aron suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital by his brother and village watchmen. He died around 12:30 p.m. while undergoing treatment.
Authorities said an investigation is ongoing to identify the suspects and determine the motive behind the attack.
Police have launched a manhunt to track down the assailants.
