Paolo Teston is the new FDA chief

MANILA, Philippines — Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Paolo Teston is the new director general of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
According to the FDA, Teston has vowed to restore public trust in the agency and to conduct a thorough review of its operations.

“I assume this role with a clear and urgent mandate: to raise the standard of service at the FDA—not through promises or plans alone, but through action. And we are serious about this goal,” Teston’s statement reads.
He also noted that the reforms he would bring would be “swift, strategic, and anchored on concrete results.”
He also vowed to nurture the welfare of FDA employees, promising to find ways to improve job security, professional growth, and working conditions in the agency.
At the DOH, Teston led the Health Regulation and Facility Development Cluster.
He also previously served as DOH assistant secretary and cluster lead of the Health Facility Development Bureau and the Health Facility Enhancement Program Management Office, and concurrently as DOH assistant secretary under the Capital Asset Management and Patient Support Cluster./mcm
