MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the license of the bus driver involved in the multi-vehicle accident in the Edsa-Quezon Avenue tunnel in Quezon City.
According to the LTO through a show cause order, the bus driver’s license has been preventively suspended for 90 days.

The LTO also directed the driver to appear before the LTO office on May 19, and explain why he should not be administratively charged for reckless driving and why his license should not be revoked under the category of being an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle.
“Failure to appear and submit the written comment or explanation as required shall be construed by this Office as a waiver of your right to be heard, and the case shall be decided based on the evidence at hand,” said the LTO.
The suspension and the summons came after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board also summoned Diamond V-Eight Transport Inc., or the operator of the bus, to have them explain why its Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) should not be revoked.
Based on a police report from the Quezon City Police District, at least six were injured in the multi-vehicular accident at the Edsa-Quezon Avenue tunnel. /jpv
