The BOC said 1,330 tablets of ecstasy and 362 grams of heroin were hidden in misdeclared packages labeled as skincare products and plumbing materials.
Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio, in a press release, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to protecting the country’s borders from illegal drug entry.
“These seizures demonstrate our resolve to dismantle drug smuggling networks through enhanced intelligence, inter-agency collaboration, and strict screening protocols,” Rubio said.
The illegal drugs were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for appropriate legal action pursuant to Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and RA 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. /das/abc
