Expect hot and humid temperatures for most of PH on election day

MANILA, Philippines – Fair weather with hot and humid temperatures is forecast to prevail over the majority of the country on Monday, election day, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

According to Pagasa weather specialist Daniel Villamil, two weather systems are expected to affect the country on Monday, with the frontal system affecting parts of Luzon.

“Ngayong araw ng eleksyon, dahil sa frontal system, ang area ng Batanes, Cagayan kabilang ang Babuyan Islands ay asahan ang mataas na tiyansa ng mga kalat kalat na thunderstorms,” said Pagasa weather specialist Daniel Villamil.

(On election day, due to the frontal system, the area of Batanes, Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands, can expect a high chance of scattered thunderstorms.)

“Samantala sa Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon ay fair weather conditions pa rin ang maasahan, mainit at maalinsangan sa umaga hanggang tanghali pero may mga tiyansa ng pag ulan at pagkidlat sa hapon at gabi,” he added.

(In Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, fair weather conditions are still expected, hot and humid in the morning until noon, but with chances of rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.)

Meanwhile, Villamil said the easterlies will continue to be the prevailing weather system in Visayas and Mindanao.

The easterlies will bring hot and humid weather over the areas in Visayas and Mindanao, as well as high chances of localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

No low pressure area or any typhoons, on the other hand, were spotted within and outside the Philippine area of responsibility.

Pagasa said the temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for Monday will be:

  • Metro Manila: 25 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 17 to 24 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City: 25 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Tuguegarao: 25 to 35 degrees Celsius
  • Legazpi City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Puerto Princesa City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Tagaytay: 23 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Kalayaan Islands: 26 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Iloilo City: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Cebu: 27 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Tacloban City: 27 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Cagayan De Oro City: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Zamboanga City: 24 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Davao City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
