P754,000 worth of shabu seized from 4 suspected traffickers in Cavite
LUCENA CITY — Police in Cavite province arrested four suspected drug traffickers in separate operations on Wednesday and Thursday, seizing more than P754,000 worth of crystal meth, or shabu, authorities said.
In a report, the Region 4A police said anti-narcotics operatives in Imus City arrested a suspect identified only as “Raniel” around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday after he sold P500 worth of shabu to an undercover officer in Barangay Malagasang 2G.
Officers recovered five plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing 80 grams, worth about P544,000, according to the Dangerous Drugs Board.
Authorities also seized Raniel’s mobile phone, which will be examined for evidence of drug transactions. He was classified as a “high-value individual,” a designation for major figures in the illegal drug trade such as financiers, traffickers, manufacturers, or members of organized drug groups.
In a separate operation at 12:15 a.m. Thursday in General Trias City, police arrested another high-value suspect, “Arturo,” in Barangay San Francisco.
Officers recovered three sachets of suspected shabu weighing 20.97 grams, valued at P142,596, as well as a motorcycle allegedly used in his drug activities.
At about 12:30 a.m. the same day in Bacoor City, authorities arrested two street-level suspects, “Ramil” and “Christian,” in Barangay Molino 1 after they allegedly sold drugs to an undercover officer. Police said they seized 10 grams of suspected shabu valued at P68,000.
All suspects are in custody and face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Police said investigations are ongoing to identify the source of the illegal drugs.
