MANILA, Philippines — Overcast skies with rain showers are expected to prevail in parts of Luzon on Monday due to the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to the state weather bureau.
In a morning forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA was last spotted 460 kilometers west of Coron, Palawan, with a low chance of becoming a tropical cyclone.
“A possible scenario is for this LPA to exit PAR or dissipate,” Pagasa weather specialist Chenel Dominguez reported.

“For Monday, we will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains over Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Quezon, and Batangas due to the trough or extension of the LPA,” she added.
Dominguez said the same weather conditions are expected in Palawan until Tuesday.
Moreover, she revealed that easterlies will bring fair, specifically hot and humid, weather to Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
However, since it is already May or near the wet season, Dominguez said more rain showers are expected nationwide due to localized thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, no gale warning was raised on any of the country’s seaboard.
