MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI), the country’s leading broadsheet, will continue publishing daily even as its operations get integrated starting July 1, 2025 with its sister company that handles the website.
In an announcement on Friday posted on this website and on its social media accounts, PDI said it has entered into an agreement with Inquirer Interactive, Inc. about assuming publication of the paper to ensure that the Inquirer brand’s financial foundation would be strengthened.

Inquirer Interactive Inc. is currently responsible for managing the news website ɫTV, which also carries some of PDI’s stories on digital formats.
“With the integration of print and digital operations, the INQUIRER’s financial foundation would be strengthened and its ability to deliver news in traditional and digital platforms enhanced. Following a thorough review of its challenges, the Board of Directors had determined that this shift is the best strategy to ensure that the INQUIRER remains the leading source of news and content for Filipinos here and abroad,” the company said.
“Furthermore, this move would reinforce the INQUIRER’s enduring legacy and create new opportunities to engage Filipinos regardless of their reading habits,” it added.
The integration of the two news platforms, PDI said, would allow the brand to reach and connect to more readers across media platforms.
“By leveraging the combined reach of the newspaper’s subscriber base and the growing 27 million monthly page visits of Inquirer.net, the INQUIRER would be able to expand its ability to connect to a broader audience across all media platforms,” the company said.
Employees of both PDI and Inquirer Interactive have been informed about the recent changes through separate general assemblies. According to the companies’ top officials, several of PDI’s staffers — including members of the editorial team — have been invited to join Inquirer Interactive.
“They (several members of PDI’s editorial team) have expressed their commitment to maintain uninterrupted newsroom operations, uphold the INQUIRER’s editorial standards, and drive the success of the integration,” PDI said.
Furthermore, PDI assured employees who would be affected by the changes that they would receive all benefits due them.
“The Board of Directors has committed that all affected employees shall receive the severance or separation benefits that may be due them under the law or the collective bargaining agreement with the PDI Employees Union, as the Company winds up its operations,” PDI said.
“PDI asks its subscribers, readers, partners and the public to continue to place their trust in the INQUIRER as it embarks on this new chapter in its life, steadfast in its resolve to deliver ‘Balanced ɫTV, Fearless Views’ and to serve Filipinos now and the generations to come,” it added.
