Marcos on favorable survey rating: A validation of admin’s work

MANILA, Philippines—President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday said a recent survey showing that more than half of Filipinos trust him and are satisfied with his performance validates his administration’s efforts since he took office.
According to Octa Research’s Tugon ng Masa nationwide survey conducted from April 2 to 5 among 1,200 adult respondents, 60 percent of Filipinos expressed trust in Marcos, while 59 percent said they were satisfied with his performance.

“Well, it just validates what we are doing, that people are beginning to understand what we have been trying to do for the past two and a half, almost three years,” Marcos said in an ambush interview in Cavite when asked for a comment on the rating.
“So it continues to inspire me because it shows that we’re making progress. That’s all I’m saying,” he also said.
The President also noted that it is “good to know” how the public perceives his administration’s efforts.
“Mabuti naman at nakikita ng taong bayan na yung ginagawa natin para makakatulong ito sa pampaganda sa kanilang buhay,” he said.
(It’s good that the people can see that what we are doing will help improve their lives.)
The same survey also showed that Vice President Sara Duterte’s trust rating rose from 49 percent to 58 percent during the same period, while her distrust rating stood at 19 percent, with 22 percent undecided.
When it comes to other officials, Senate President Francis Escudero garnered a trust rating of 55 percent and a performance rating of 53 percent.
Speaker Martin Romualdez, for his part, received a 54 percent trust rating and 55 percent performance rating.
Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, meanwhile, received the lowest rating in both scores at only 5 percent each.
