JBC to interview candidates for SC associate justice

MANILA, Philippines — Several candidates for the position of Supreme Court associate justice will face the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) for a public interview in May.

In an announcement, the JBC said candidates will undergo a public interview at the Supreme Court session hall or the Court of Appeals session.

The successful candidate would replace Associate Justice Mario Lopez, who is set to retire on June 4, 2025.

The candidates’ interview schedules are as follows:

The JBC said the public may submit a sworn complaint, report, or opposition against any of the candidates by mail or personal submission in three legible copies to the JBC no later than 4:30 p.m. on May 9.
