3 killed in Tabuk City shootout
TUGUEGARAO CITY — Three armed men were killed in an alleged shootout early Thursday, April 24, in Barangay San Julian, Tabuk City, police said.
Authorities responded to reports of gunfire from concerned residents shortly after 6 a.m. They discovered the bodies of three men with gunshot wounds to the head and body, according to Tabuk police.
Recovered at the scene were two M16 rifles and a shotgun believed to have been carried by the slain men.
Initial investigations identified the deceased as residents of the villages of Basao and Dilag in Tabuk City. Their names were withheld pending notification of next of kin and for security reasons.
Colonel James Mangili, Kalinga provincial police director, said a hot pursuit operation was ongoing to locate other individuals possibly involved in the confrontation.
The motive behind the incident remains under investigation.
