MANILA, Philippines — The southern portion of Mindanao is forecast to be rainy, while the rest of the country is expected to experience hot weather on Wednesday, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that Southern Mindanao’s rains are brought by the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), or the convergence of winds coming from the northern and southern hemispheres.
Southern Mindanao will see a huge chance of cloudy skies with scattered rain, lightning, and thunder.
“Particularly in parts of Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur, Sulu, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi,” Pagasa weather specialist Rhea Torres said in the 5 a.m. weather forecast.

Meanwhile, the possibility of rain for the rest of the country is due to isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
“Dulot ng epekto ng easterlies, magiging mainit pa rin ang panahon sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon area ngayong araw,” Torres said.
(Due to easterlies, hot weather will still prevail over a huge portion of Luzon today.)
She added that chances of rain are possible in the afternoon and evening.
She also said that hot and humid weather is also expected in Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao, with chances of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.

Torres also mentioned that these weather conditions are expected to prevail in the coming days, especially on the weekend.
No gale warning is raised in any seaboards of the country. No low-pressure area or tropical cyclone is also being monitored within and outside the Philippine area of responsibility, she emphasized.
