MANILA, Philippines 鈥 Many parts of Mindanao are expected to have overcast skies and rain showers due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) on Monday, according to the state weather bureau.

鈥淏ased on our satellite animation, we are seeing cloud clusters here in parts of Mindanao鈥攖hat is the intertropical convergence zone,鈥 said Rhea Torres, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), during its public weather forecast.

鈥淎nd because of that (ITCZ), expect high chances of cloudy conditions in most parts of the Mindanao area and rain showers mostly in the southern portion of Mindanao,鈥 Torres added.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, Pagasa said cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected in Davao Region, Surigao del Sur, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

On the other hand, the easterlies or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, will bring fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Torres said no tropical cyclones are expected to form or enter the Philippine area of responsibility in the coming days.

Pagasa did not hoist a gale warning in any seaboard nationwide.
