MANILA, Philippines — Education Secretary Sonny Angara pushed for a collaboration between the government and the Church in a bid to reform the country’s education system.

Angara was in Tagaytay City, Cavite on Wednesday, speaking at a leadership course by Caritas Philippines, the advocacy arm of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

The education secretary recognized several Church-based education initiatives, including community schools, technical-vocational training, alternative learning system programs, and youth protection projects.

“The work of education cannot rest on the government alone. It must be a shared mission. The Church, private institutions, and civil society must stand as partners,” Angara said.
