Alleged thief shot dead in Antipolo City

In Antipolo City, a still unidentified gunman shot and killed an alleged notorious thief on Friday, July 5, 2024, according to police. INQUIRER FILES

LUCENA CITY — A still unidentified gunman shot and killed an alleged notorious thief in Antipolo City, Rizal province on Friday night, police said.

The Region 4A police in a report Saturday said “Ricardo Recto” was repeatedly shot by a male assailant using a caliber .45 pistol while playing games inside a computer shop in Barangay San Jose at around 8:45 p.m.

The killer fled after the shooting and left his target dead on the spot.

Police said the victim, a “known thief in the area,” was arrested in 2022 and released in the same year.

An investigation is ongoing to establish the motive behind the incident.

Police launched a manhunt operation to arrest the assailant.
