Army chief Brawner is new AFP chief; Centino is named West Philippine Sea presidential adviser.

MANILA, Philippines — Lieutenant General Romeo Brawner Jr. is the new Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Malacañang made this announcement on Wednesday.

He will replace General Andres Centino, who was appointed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as Presidential Adviser on West Philippine Sea.

“Lieutenant General Romeo Brawner will be the next Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and will take the place of General Andres Centino, who was re-appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to the said post earlier this year,” said the Palace in a statement.

Brawner is currently the Commanding General of Philippine Army.

He has been in the military for 34 years.
