Nationwide COVID-19 positivity rate at 2.1%; active cases at 10,228

The nationwide COVID-19 positivity rate is now at 2.1 percent, said Octa Research fellow Guido David on Tuesday.

MANILA, Philippines — The nationwide COVID-19 positivity rate is now at 2.1 percent, said Octa Research fellow Guido David on Tuesday.

According to the Department of Health’s (DOH) latest report posted the same day, there are also 10,228 active cases, with 116 more confirmed cases.

“2.1 [percent] nationwide positivity rate. 44 cases in NCR. Projecting 150-250 new cases on [January 25, 2023],” said David in a Twitter post.

The COVID-19 positivity rate is the number of people testing positive for the virus among those getting tested.

Tuesday’s COVID-19 positivity rate is a slight increase from the nationwide rate on Monday, which David previously reported to be at  2.0 percent.

Meanwhile, the DOH also said that the country’s total recorded cases totalled 4,072,188, with 3,949,820 recoveries and 65,618 deaths.

Only 15.29 percent of dedicated COVID-19 intensive care unit (ICU) beds have been occupied by patients while non-ICU CVID beds are 19.29 percent occupied, said the DOH. A total 10.62 percent of mechanical ventilators are used.
