MANILA, Philippines 鈥擳he government of the Philippines is undergoing a digital transition, and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has called on its partners to assist in developing the country鈥檚 information and communications technology (ICT) sector and the bureaucracy.

Marcos thinks the Philippines has the means to innovate and catch up to other countries in the digital sphere.

鈥淎ll that is left to do is to have the will and the resolve to achieve it. Let us forge ahead, build a better, brighter, more progressive future for the ICT sector, for the bureaucracy, for the entire Philippines,鈥 the president said.

He also appealed to Congress to pass the e-governance and e-government bills, which, he said, would ensure fast, transparent, and efficient government service

鈥淚, therefore, call on all our fellow servant-leaders in Congress to help accelerate the approval of these bills once again,鈥 he said.

Marcos said the country could achieve a digital Philippines by enhancing its digital infrastructure, improving the regulatory framework for innovation, ensuring cybersecurity, and developing the country鈥檚 digital workforce.

In the , the Philippines ranked 89th out of 193 countries in e-government development.

But the president said he was optimistic that the Philippines could do better.
