OCTA: 2 Ilocos provinces post ‘very high’ COVID-19 positivity rate

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—Two Ilocos region provinces have registered “very high” positivity rates in the past week, according to analytics group OCTA Research on Monday, August 8.

The positivity rate of La Union was at 29.4 percent, up from 24 on July 30.

Pangasinan province had a 25-percent positivity rate, jumping from 21.1 percent on July 30, OCTA said, citing data from the Department of Health.

The positivity rate refers to the percentage of tests that turn out positive.

Another province in the region, however, saw a decrease in its one-week positivity rate from July 30 to August 6.

Ilocos Norte’s positivity rate slightly decreased from 10.4 percent to 9.9 percent. Of all the areas reported, Ilocos Norte had the lowest positivity rate based on the August 6 data. INQ
