Dengue kills child in Zambales

SUBIC, Zambales—A 6-year-old resident of this town died this month due to dengue fever, according to the Municipal Health Office (MHO).

The fatality was among the 75 confirmed dengue cases in the town since January this year, data from the MHO showed.

Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health officer, said the province registered 744 dengue cases in the first five months of the year, an increase from more than 600 recorded during the same period last year.

Most of the recent dengue cases in the province were recorded in Subic town, prompting local health officials to intensify their campaign to prevent an outbreak.
