Petitioner wants Comelec to cancel COC of senatorial aspirant Raffy Tulfo

Broadcaster Raffy Tulfo is currently facing a petition for the cancellation of his certificate of candidacy in the upcoming 2022 elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) confirmed on Thursday.

MANILA, Philippines — Broadcaster Raffy Tulfo is currently facing a petition for the cancellation of his certificate of candidacy (COC) for the upcoming 2022 elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) confirmed on Thursday.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez confirmed the development in an online briefing.

Jimenez said a certain Julieta Pearson filed a petition to cancel the broadcaster’s COC on October 25.

The Comelec has not provided a copy of the petition.

In 2019, Tulfo admitted on his radio show that he fathered a child with Pearson.

Tulfo emerged as the front runner in the latest survey of Social Weather Stations (SWS) for the preferred senatorial aspirants in the 2022 national elections.

The camp of Tulfo has yet to answer or issue a response concerning Pearson’s petition.
