Olongapo posts zero new COVID-19 cases, deaths anew

OLONGAPO CITY鈥擣or the second time, the city did not record any new COVID-19 cases and deaths, records from the local task force showed on Sunday, Oct. 24.

The city鈥檚 active infections also dropped to 133 after nine more patients recovered from the viral disease. It was the city鈥檚 lowest number of active infections since April 14.

But the city鈥檚 death rose to 300 following the death of a 94-year-old female patient on Oct. 22.

So far, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Olongapo has reached 5,412. Of these, at least 4,979 had recovered from the disease, reflecting a 92-percent recovery rate.

鈥淲e hope that our active cases will continue to drop. We thank our frontliners for their untiring service,鈥 Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said in a statement.

On Oct. 17, the city also reported zero new cases and deaths related to COVID-19. It was the first time the city logged zero daily new infections since registering its first COVID-19 cases at the onset of the health crisis last year. INQ
