A man who jumped from a moving plane at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in the United States is now facing 20 years in prison.

Luis Antonio Victoria Dominguez, a 33-year-old man from Mexico, has been charged with interference with flight crew members and attendants, as per a US Department of Justice (DOJ) release yesterday, June 28.

Dominguez reportedly “sprinted” the cockpit of a SkyWest Airlines flight as it was taxiing down the LAX runway last Friday evening, June 25.

He allegedly banged on the cockpit and tried to enter the restricted space before opening an emergency exit and jumping to the tarmac.

Dominguez, who is expected to appear in court later this week, suffered from a broken leg after jumping and had to undergo reconstructive surgery.

“Once Victoria Dominguez landed on the tarmac, he began crawling away from the aircraft. His right leg appeared broken,” stated a Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit that came with the federal criminal complaint against him.

The charge of interference with flight crew members and attendants carries a statutory maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison, according to the US DOJ.  /ra
