Limited in-person classes for medical courses allowed

/ 04:31 AM January 27, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — The country needs to make sure it would have enough doctors to take care of the people amid the pandemic, which is why the President has allowed limited in-person classes for medical and allied programs in colleges and universities, Malacañang said on Tuesday. Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed that the limited in-person classes would be held in higher education institutions in modified general community quarantine areas, and in general community quarantine areas with base hospitals that handle Covid-19 patients. “This is to ensure that we would not run out of doctors,” Roque said in a press briefing. The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases earlier allowed the resumption of the in-person clinical internship program of the University of the Philippines- Philippine General Hospital. —Leila B.
