An auxiliary police officer in Singapore beat up his girlfriend after a horoscope reading claimed that they were not compatible to get married.

The 27-year-old man has since been convicted of all charges after he beat up his ex-girlfriend, who is also his supervisor, inside a pantry at the Police Coast Guard base in Brani, as per TODAY on Jan. 14. He was charged with three counts of causing hurt and criminally intimidating her.

The auxiliary cop鈥檚 name, as well as his ex-girlfriend鈥檚, was withheld due to a court order to protect the victim鈥檚 identity, the report said.

The crime occurred on Nov. 29, 2018, a few months after they began dating in July 2018. Their relationship ended due to the said horoscope reading that said marriage for them was 鈥渘ot promising.鈥 The auxiliary cop reportedly beat up his girlfriend after getting upset over the reading.

Through a phone call later that day, he threatened to kill her and post her nude photos online, according to the report. The call was recorded using an app on the victim鈥檚 phone, which was used as evidence along with photos of her injuries.

Prior to the reading, however, the ex-girlfriend was already unhappy with their relationship as she described the man as controlling and an abuser.

The said cop reportedly beat her up regularly, did not like her using social media and even made her write down a list of her 鈥渕istakes鈥 from his point of view.

The man, however, has denied beating up his ex-girlfriend and claimed that he only pushed her in the pantry, causing her face to hit a metal locker.

Among other appeals, he also tried to argue that his threat, specifically when he said 鈥淚 am going to kill you now鈥 to the victim, was a common thing to say in Malaysia and that he did not intend to kill her, the report said.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Shana Poon, however, was quoted as saying that the man had 鈥渞esorted to ridiculous and incredible afterthoughts鈥 when confronted by objective evidence, the report said.

The man has been sentenced to six weeks in jail only on Jan. 14, but remains out on a $15,000 bail. Ian Biong聽/ra
