1 dead, 3 hurt in tricycle-truck collision in Quezon

LUCENA CITY –– A tricycle passenger died, and three others were seriously injured after a truck collided with their vehicle in Candelaria town in Quezon province on Wednesday.

The Candelaria police reported that a cargo truck driven by Gilbert Ogma occupied the opposite lane and collided head-on with the oncoming tricycle driven by Ronnel Espiritu along the national road in Barangay Mangilag Sur around 11 p.m.

Espiritu and his three passengers – Benjie Mirasol, Eddie Silang, and Leovino Garcia – all suffered serious injuries, and were rushed to different hospitals at the town proper.

A report said Mirasol was declared dead on arrival at the United Candelaria Doctors Hospital.

The truck driver left the accident site and surrendered at the Candelaria police station.
