COVID-19 deaths in PH surpass 8,000-mark; total caseload now at 415,067
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines’ COVID-19 death toll surpassed the 8,000-mark on Friday as 27 new deaths were recorded, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
The latest figure from the DOH showed that the total number of fatalities is now at 8,025. Meanwhile, the country’s coronavirus caseload stands at 415,067 with 1,639 additional infections.
The DOH’s record for the total number of recoveries also soared to 375,237 after 305 recovery cases were added to the total.
The health department said that of the total cases, 31,805 are active cases, with 84.7 percent classified as mild infections, 8.1 percent are asymptomatic, 4.5 percent are critical, 2.4 percent are severe and 0.21 percent are moderate.
The DOH removed two duplicate cases, where one is a recovered case, from the total case count.
“Moreover, six cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths,” the DOH said.
