PNP forms task group to probe journalist slay in Pangasinan

MANILA, Philippines — The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO-1) has activated a special investigation task group (SITG) to look into the case and arrest the perpetrators behind the killing of a Pangasinan-based veteran journalist and columnist.
In a statement on Wednesday, PRO-1 director Brig. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin condemned the killing of radio commentator Virgilio “Vir” Maganes of Villasis, Pangasinan as he announced the creation of SITG Maganes.
Azurin said that the SITG is now investigating leads and persons of interest who have been identified through footages from closed circuit television cameras near the crime scene.
Maganes was shot six times as he was entering the compound of his residence on Tuesday morning.
