PLDT says no customer data downloaded in Twitter hack
MANILA, Philippines —Telecommunications and digital service provider PLDT said Friday that no customer information was downloaded when its Twitter account for customer service was hacked on Thursday.
“We would like to inform the public that a thorough investigation conducted by our cybersecurity operations group has shown that there is no record of customer data download or exfiltration from the @PLDT_Cares Twitter account,” PLDT Inc. said in a statement.
PLDT said it would also communicate its findings on the hacking incident with the National Privacy Commission.
“We will continue to fortify and enhance our cybersecurity protocols to prevent incidents like this from happening again in the future,” added the digital service provider.

At 12:34 p.m on Thursday, the PLDT Cares Twitter account was hacked by a group that claimed to be Anonymous Philippines. The account was recovered past 2 p.m. on the same day.
Hackers even posted a tweet calling for fast internet service amid the coronavirus pandemic and threatened they would also infiltrate the Twitter account of Globe Telecom.
“As the pandemic arises, Filipinos need fast internet to communicate with their loved ones. Do your job. The corrupt fear us, the honest support us, the heroic join us. We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us,” the hacked account earlier tweeted.
