The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Friday it was monitoring the situation in Libya after authorities there declared a state of emergency on Wednesday night.
Newly arrived Charg茅 d鈥橝ffaires Elmer Cato said the Philippine Embassy in Tripoli was in touch with members of the Filipino community and that none had so far reported being affected by the clashes, the DFA said in a statement.
The DFA said the embassy had immediately issued an advisory to the estimated 1,000 Filipinos working in the capital and western parts of the country, urging them 鈥渢o stay calm but vigilant.鈥
Cato said Filipinos in Libya who might need assistance should contact the embassy鈥檚 hotline.鈥擩EROME ANING
