Cop killed, another injured in NPA ambush in Samar

MANILA, Philippines — A police officer was killed while another officer was injured in an ambush allegedly perpetrated by members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Motiong, Samar on Monday morning.

An initial report from the police said PO3 Glenn Meniano and PO1 Jane Abejar were onboard a Mahindra patrol car along Maharlika Highway in Barangay 1 and bound for Motiong Municipal Police Station when they were ambushed by an unidentified number of NPA members.

The ambush, which happened near the municipality’s cockpit arena at around 7 a.m., killed PO3 Meniano and wounded PO1 Abejar, according to police. /je
