MANILA, Philippines 鈥� President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will appoint Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr. as his next presidential adviser on the peace process, Malaca帽ang said Wednesday.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Duterte made the announcement during Tuesday鈥檚 Cabinet meeting.

鈥淭he President announced his intention to appoint General Carlito Galvez, Jr. to the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process,鈥� Panelo said in a statement.聽

Galvez will replace former Presidential Peace Adviser Jesus Dureza who resigned last month.

Galvez will be stepping down on December 12 from the AFP as he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 56. /je
